Oil Painting Workshops led by Artist Joshua Garcia – 2 Days each.
1. Plein Air: TBA
Learn how to interpret nature in terms of paint, using light and color to create form. The aim of this workshop is to teach you to think, see, and express light and form. Color relationships, design/composition, simplifying, and the benefits of painting outdoors will be discussed, as well as how to design and build a painting that carries an intentional impact. We will focus on values, shapes, edges and color as they relate to painting, working wet into wet to complete a painting in one or two sessions. The workshop is for all levels of painters who want to learn the time-honored joy of Plein Air (outdoor) painting. Demonstrations each day and one-on-one advice in the field.

2. Impressionist Figure: TBA
The figure is the inspiration for this dynamic workshop. Joshua will demonstrate daily his impressionistic approach to figure painting while emphasizing the big shapes and their color relationships to each other. Students will paint from the clothed figure Image, while focusing on improving not only color choices, but also drawing skills and the ability to see and manipulate values and edges. With Joshua’s guidance you will gain a solid foundation for future paintings by understanding how they all relate to one another to create powerful, successful compositions.

3. Light, Color, Still Life / Landscape: Abstract: TBA
This workshop combines the Color Intensive and Landscape workshop working both in the studio and outdoors. Depending on weather, there will be both still life and landscape painting. Most of the class will be spent mixing color and making small studies. In this class color theory will come alive as color expression. Creativity is sometimes chaotic, but color mixing doesn't have to be, it can be a tool to express your creativity and this class will make it just that.
